About Prof J Calitz

Juanitta Calitz, LLB LLM LLD (UP) is currently an Associate Professor of Law at the University of Johannesburg (UJ), and Head of the Department of Mercantile Law. She presents undergraduate; postgraduate and extra-curricular courses in insolvency law, corporate insolvency law as well as business rescue and have presented papers at various national and international conferences. She has written articles and book chapters on topics related to insolvency law and business rescue and is a co-author of Mars: The Law of Insolvency in South Africa (10^th edition). She is currently the Chair of the INSOL International Academic Forum. This position involves inter alia co-ordination of international research projects, mentorship of early career academics, liaison with international universities/academics, international institutions and stakeholders.  She is also a  member of the International Advisory Council of the Singapore Global Restructuring Initiative (SGRI) as well as a member of the editorial Board of the International Insolvency Review (IIR). Her research interests include corporate insolvency law and business rescue as well as the impact of COVID 19 and Industry 4.0 on Insolvency law and Business Rescue.
