The work of the Division for Institutional Planning, Evaluation and Monitoring (DIPEM) encompasses important activities in support of the strategic, institutional and enrolment planning processes of the University. Much of the data, analyses and reports it produces appear in the University’s Annual Report.
The work of DIPEM is organised into three functional areas: Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation, and Institutional Research, as in the diagram below.
Planning
Planning includes contributing to the development of five-yearly and annual strategic plans for UJ, and annual university performance plans. Enrolment planning is core to its mission.
Evaluation
Evaluation and monitoring includes monitoring and reporting on the University’s performance against its strategic and annual plans, for the oversight of Council and for onward reporting to the DHET.
Institutional Research
Institutional research includes the proactive and reactive investigation through diverse methods such as surveys and data-based analyses of issues germane to the performance of the university overall.
