The Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2024 now ranks the University of Johannesburg among the top 500 universities globally, as well as fourth in South Africa and Africa.
The University of Johannesburg is a research-intensive University whose mission is “Inspiring its community to transform and serve humanity through innovation and the collaborative pursuit of knowledge”. This mission is pursued through research conducted across the University’s nine faculties, including the College of Business and Economics, as well as a Business School.
UJ also hosts more than 65 research centres and institutes, including a DSI-NRF Centre of Excellence; more than 25 Research and Innovation Chairs, including SARChI Chairs, industry chairs, and UNESCO Chairs. The is home to over 300 NRF-rated researchers.
