• 3 April 2024: University of Johannesburg Graduation for ACEPS 3 newest PhDs (l-r): Dr Abraham Tejiri Tobi, their supervisor Prof Veli Mitova, Dr Dimpho Takane Maponya and Dr Akanimo Andrew Akpan

Why not Try-It before you Buy-It

Attend an ACEPS weekly Friday writing retreat/work-in-progress workshop, meet the team to see what you are missing (Term 3 schedule)! During lunch, you will meet the director and love the ACEPS community or the pizza! Hopefully both! Directions, ACEPS administrator zkokwane@uj.ac.za. ACEPS postgrads are expected to be part of the vibrant life of the centre, to attend all talks, writing retreats and work-in-progress events.

Why ACEPS?

ACEPS became the top centre in 2024 in University of Johannesburg and an Institute from 2026!

At ACEPS, you get what you put in but with plenty hand-holding to make you fly! If you are not feeling appreciated at your current university, why not consider UJ and especially ACEPS as a great alternative?

Do not miss out on doing your Honours, MA, PhD or PostDoc in Philosophy at ACEPS

Have a look at Team & PostGrads to see what our PostGrads are working on and the other ACEPS links to get a good idea of what ACEPS does and whether it is a good fit for you. If you think you are, then ACEPS director Prof Veli Mitova  wants to hear from you with:

  • A motivation letter explaining how your work will contribute to ACEPS
  • Most recent academic transcripts
  • Your CV
  • A one-page proposal (for MA and PhDs)

Or just contact me directly if you have already been accepted for an Honours, MA or PhD at UJ Department of Philosophy.

Best to apply early to resolve isses, especially funding and visas. Honours, MAs and PhD candidates can  go to Postgraduates Admissions+Aid for help. Postdoctoral candidates should go to Postdoctoral Research Fellows for help.

International Postgraduate candidates must apply only for a Visitor’s visa section 11(1)(b)(ii)  directly from a South African embassy. Best to include a SAQA receipt when you apply.

Looking forward to hearing from you but if in doubt just ask.
