What is SHSCRC

The Sustainable Human Settlement and Construction Research Center (SHSCRC) is home to the Department of Science and Technology (DST)/ National Research Foundation (NRF) South African Research Chair in Sustainable Construction Management and Leadership in the Built Environment. It is also home to the CIDB Centre of Excellence. The SHSCRC, along with its Research chair and Centre of Excellence, is an entity of the University of Johannesburg within the Department of Construction Management and Quantity Surveying, subject to the governance rules and structure of the Faculty of Engineering and Built Environment of the University. Our strategic aim is to be a renowned and leading research institute with excellent research output in research, technologies, and innovation for satisfactory and sustainable built environment projects irrespective of geographical location.
