Biography
 
Obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Technology from the Durban University of Technology in 2006, a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Johannesburg in 2011, and a PhD degree from the University of the Witwatersrand in 2016. He Joined the University of Johannesburg in 2007 as a Lecturer in the department of Electrical Engineering Technology. He is currently Associate Professor and Head of Department. He is professionally registered with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA). He holds senior membership with the South African Institute of Electrical Engineers (SAIEE) as well as a membership with the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). He is also a specialist editor for the SAIEE Africa Research Journal (ARJ). As a researcher, Pitshou has authored and co‐authored several publications in international and local journals as well as in conference proceedings and book chapters. He is a recipient of the Erasmus+ funding in collaboration with the University of Klagenfurt in Austria. He has supervised several masters and a couple of doctoral students to completion, and many more are currently under his supervision. His research interests entail power quality, condition monitoring of dielectrics and insulation materials, reliability of surge protective devices, distributed generation and economics of energy
