About Dr Motsi Ephrey Matlakala
Biography
Motsi is a registered Professional Engineering Technologist (Pr Tech Eng) with Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA and has a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Johannesburg (UJ). He has authored over 22 scholarly works, including journal articles, conference papers, and book chapters. Motsi previously served as a Research Coordinator at UJ-PEETS and is currently a Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering Science at the University of Johannesburg.
He also contributes to the engineering profession as a Mentor and Assessor for the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA). Recognized for his technical expertise and entrepreneurial mindset, Motsi is a well-established technologist and researcher. He is passionate about inspiring the next generation while continuing to learn from seasoned professionals in the field. His core values include integrity, professionalism, high performance, and being a team player. Motsi is the co-founder and Chairperson of the Itirele Empowerment Institute and holds professional membership with ECSA, Golden Key International Honour Society,IEEE, and SAIMechE. Beyond his academic and professional roles, Motsi is deeply involved in mentoring, coaching, and tutoring students across Gauteng Province. His commitment to youth development began during his own studies at UJ, where he tutored fellow students. He has also worked at Rand Water and provided after-hours tutoring in Mathematics and Physical Science.
In his personal time, Motsi enjoys reading, researching, writing, and watching reality shows and news. His passion lies in research and knowledge-sharing, with a strong focus on empowering young people to achieve their dreams and goal
