Francis Kunzi Tekweme was born on 10 February 1965 and attained his BEng in Mechanical Engineering in 1998 from the University of Kinshasa, in the Democratic Republic of Congo. He subsequently pursued a postgraduate Magister Technologiae (MTech) Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology from the University of Johannesburg and graduated in 2010. In 2005 the University of Johannesburg welcomed Francis as a part time lecturer. He was appointed full time lecturer in 2011.
