About Ms Mueletshedzi Helen Phosho
Academic Profile
Helen Phosho is an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Urban and Regional Planning at the University of Johannesburg. She holds a Master’s degree in Sustainable Urban and Regional Planning and is currently pursuing her PhD in Urban and Regional Planning, which focuses on housing location optimisation using machine learning models.
Her research explores the intersection of spatial integration, affordable housing, and computational tools in planning, with an emphasis on decolonising urban development practices and advancing more Just and Inclusive spatial outcomes. She has taught extensively and supervises Honours and Master’s level research projects. She is the coordinator for the second year Bachelor of Urban and Regional Planning.
