About Dr. Xolani Gama
Dr. Xolani Gama joined the University of Johannesburg (UJ) in 2013 as a Student Assistant in the Student Finance division, where he gained extensive experience in financial governance. He was later appointed as the Information and Communications Officer at the Postgraduate School, followed by a role as Administrator in the Disability Unit.
In June 2024, Mr. Gama joined the Department of Anthropology and Development Studies as Office Manager. He is an experienced and highly organized manager with excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills. His core strengths include line management, problem-solving, budgeting, strategic planning, and staff coordination.
As an Office Manager, Mr. Gama is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the department, ensuring administrative efficiency, managing office budgets and procurement, maintaining accurate records and reporting systems, supervising support staff, coordinating departmental events and meetings, and acting as a liaison between the department, university administration, and external stakeholders.
He is proficient in office management software and systems, and has a strong track record of improving workflows, enhancing service delivery, and supporting academic and administrative staff. Mr. Gama holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a postgraduate qualification in Public Policy and African Studies
