Research Interests

Advanced machining processes, sustainable manufacturing, green machining Sustainable Cooling & Lubrication- Minimum Quantity Lubrication (MQL), Machinability enhancement of difficult-to-machine materials such as Titanium Grade 2, 4 and 5. Weldability of Various Materials i.e. 3CR12 Stainless Steel, and the optimization of welding parameters.

Biography
Thabo Mathonsi knows that successful students become successful adults. This is his 4th year lecturing at the University of Johannesburg, where he specializes in Science, and Strength of Materials. He has additional 3 years’ experience working as a System Engineer at Eskom Hld SOC Ltd, where he was responsible for several projects; Boiler Auxiliary Cooling System Upgrade Project, Station-Waste Disposal Leachate Dam Project, and Condenser Pit Area Fire Protection. These projects are specific to the power generation industry and were carried out to meet national legal requirements, international standards, and good international industry practice. Mr. Mathonsi was selected to become part of the Golden Key International Honor Society which houses some of the brilliant young minds. He has been published in 2 IOP Conference Series: Materials Science and Engineering (MSE). Mr. Mathonsi holds a MEng from the University of Johannesburg and is currently a PhD Candidate.
