Biography:

Mr Abdul Hamid Jalal graduated with his Master of Philosophy Degree (MPhil) in Biokinetics at the University of Johannesburg. He also holds an Honours degree in Biokinetics and is currently a registered Biokineticist with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA). As a practitioner, Abdul Hamid works with a variety of patient populations in the healthcare setting ranging from sports injuries, post- surgical orthopaedics, chronic and neurological diseases. He has a special interest in rheumatic, cardiac conditions and neurological movement disorders such as Parkinson’s disease. As an academic and Assistant lecturer, he currently works for the Department of Human Anatomy and Physiology at the University of Johannesburg, Faculty of Health Sciences lecturing in human anatomy and physiology. He is a member of the Biokinetics Association of South Africa (BASA) Gauteng committee academic and research portfolio and Golden Key International Honour Society. His key research focus areas are preventative medicine through movement, neurophysiology, and clinical exercise physiology. He has published research in the BMJ Open Sport & Exercise Medicine journal and the BioMed Central (BMC) journal on the topics of the Islamic prayer. He has also presented a research output poster at the International Festival of Sports and Exercise Medicine Conference (IFSEMC) 2022 on the Islamic prayer. His research is affiliated with the Biomedical Engineering and Healthcare Technology (BEAHT) Research Centre, Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Johannesburg. Currently, he is pursuing his Doctoral degree in Human Physiology with interests in neurophysiology and the Islamic prayer. As a member of the Islamic Medical Association of South Africa (IMASA) for the last 6 years, he is the current elected chairman of the Johannesburg East rand Branch of IMASA assists regularly with the free medical screening, CPR training, coordinates and supervises the Biokinetic division for the Johannesburg branch.
