African Women in Political Leadership: Short Learning Programme for Gender Equality and Empowerment
Home » Faculties of Humanities »The African Women in Political Leadership Short Learning Programme is designed for students, graduates, and anyone interested in business or activism. This course helps you build skills in diplomacy, negotiation, advocacy, research, and journalism. It is ideal for those who want to promote social justice, equality, and human rights through political leadership.
You will learn about women’s political leadership in Africa and how women are represented in politics across different countries. The course explores the challenges women face in political leadership and the lessons learned from their experiences. You will also discover strategies and leadership skills to help increase women’s political participation and influence in decision-making spaces.
The programme covers how race, class, and other identities intersect with gender in political leadership. You will gain practical insights into advancing women’s political leadership and advocating for more inclusive governance in your community. Real-world examples and case studies will help you understand both the progress made and the barriers that remain for African women in politics.
To join, you need a school leaving certificate or equivalent. The course runs for three months and is open to anyone passionate about gender equality and leadership.
