About Dr Phumelela Dhlomo

Dr Phumelela Dhlomo was appointed Senior Director: University Relations by the University of Johannesburg from the 1^st August 2025.   He is responsible for Marketing & Brand, Strategic Communications, Community Engagement and the University of Johannesburg Broadcasting.

Dr Dhlomo brings over over 20 years of professional experience across strategic marketing, brand management, corporate communications, digital marketing, sponsorship, corporate investment and stakeholder management. His career spans diverse sectors including FMCG, telecommunications, financial services, public sector, retail, advertising, sustainability, training, and market research.

Dr Dhlomo holds a Bachelor of Pedagogics (B. Paed), Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing Management (PDMM), Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration (PGDBA), Bachelor of Commerce Honours (B.Com Honours), Master of Commerce (M.Com), Master of Business Administration (MBA) and a Doctor of Philosophy (PHD).
