RECODE 2025 Symposium on Projects Day Announcement📣

The Academy will be hosting our first RECODE 2025 Symposium for Master’s and Doctoral students, which will take place alongside our 39th Annual Projects Day on 15 October 2025.
The purpose of RECODE 2025 is to bring together Master’s and Doctoral students to present their research in the form of posters, share insights and receive constructive feedback from senior academics who will be serving as judges. More details on the symposium can be found on the attached flyer (I attached both PDF and PNG for convenience) as well as the official RECODE 2025 website: https://adam.uj.ac.za/recode/.
Master’s and Doctoral students (at any stage of their studies) are invited to submit extended abstracts via EasyChair: https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=recode2025.
Accepted abstracts will be published in the RECODE 2025 book of abstracts, which will become available on the RECODE 2025 website following the event. Formatting guidelines can be found on the symposium website: https://adam.uj.ac.za/recode/submission.html.
Those whose abstracts are accepted will be formally invited to submit posters, which they will present at the symposium on 15 October 2025. 💫
Participants will have the opportunity to receive a Best Extended Abstract or Best Presentation award.

The 2026 SASOL-CSIR Bursary Call is now open!

This bursary scheme is aimed at South African citizens who plan to enroll full-time at a South African university in 2026. Applicants must have successfully passed all registered courses from their most recent period of study at a university.
The CSIR, in partnership with the SASOL Foundation, provides financial support to full-time, unemployed students pursuing qualifications in fields considered priority areas by the CSIR.

RECOGNISING POSTGRADUATE EXCELENCE THROUGH SCHOLARSHIP

We would like to make you aware that the Trust has an open call for postgraduate scholarship applications.

CLOSING DATE FOR APPLICATIONS IS 28 AUGUST 2025

Please send this notice to your network of postgraduate students and postdoctoral researchers, as well as those intending on taking a sabbatical.

A critical objective of the University of Johannesburg (UJ) is to educate and equip our students with work experience, as well as provide them with a recognised qualification. Graduate students are encouraged to take advantage of the opportunity to apply for graduate internships from various companies in order to acquire working skills that will prepare them for lifelong work opportunities.

UJ therefore encourages its students to apply for available graduate internships for skills development.

DSI-NRF Postgraduate Student Funding for the 2026 Academic Year

 The call of new applications for NRF Postgraduate Student Funding for the 2026 academic year has been opened for submission.

 The NRF minimum academic requirement for postgraduate funding is 65%. The entry age requirement is 28, 30 and 32 years or younger for Honours, Master’s and Doctoral studies respectively, in the year of application, regardless of first year of registration.   The scholarships are intended to support Master’s and Doctoral candidates to pursue studies in all areas of Science, Engineering, Technology, Social Sciences, and Humanities.

All the postgraduate students will be expected to apply on the NRF Connect System by accessing the link: https://nrfconnect.nrf.ac.za/. No manual applications will be accepted.
