About Prof Shahana Rasool

Prof Shahana Rasool is the HOD of the Department of Social Work and Community Development. Shahana is passionate about making a difference in society and challenging social injustice. Her work has focused on alleviating gender-based violence and understanding gender inequality. In the field of education, she has been concerned with transforming social work education from a decolonial and feminist lens.

  • Vice President of Association of Schools of Social Work in Africa (ASSWA) -2019-2023
  • Africa representative on the International Association of Schools of Social Work (IASSW) 2019-2023
