Biography

Ockert Pretorius is a registered Professional Planner, with an industry background in development economics, strategic planning research, policy evaluation, and property market intelligence. Ockert obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning at North-West University, specialising in Economics, Geography, and Spatial Planning and Policy. With Ockert’s research focussed on regional planning, economic resilience, and regional integration in southern Africa, his Master’s thesis completed at the North-West University is titled “Regional integration and industrialisation: fostering regional economic resilience in the SADC”. Ockert has attended and presented at international conferences in the United Kingdom, Switzerland, and South Africa on topics relating to regional economics, resilience, and integration. He is a member of the South African Council for Planners (SACPLAN) and the Regional Studies Association (RSA).
