Biography
Ockert Pretorius is a registered professional Urban and Regional Planner, with an industry background in development economics, strategic planning research, policy evaluation, and property market insight. With Ockert’s research focussed on regional planning, economic resilience, and regional integration in southern Africa, he currently undertaking his PhD at the North-West University. Ockert has presented research at numerous international and local conferences on topics relating to regional economics, resilience, and integration. He is a member of the South African Council for Planners (SACPLAN) and the International Society for City and Regional Planners (ISOCARP). Ockert is currently a lecturer in the Department of Urban and Regional Planning at the University of Johannesburg, heading the department’s administration portfolio. He also serves on the Ethics Committee of the Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment.
