About Mr Mahoati Arthur Lehloenya
Mahoati Arthur is an nGAP lecturer in the Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture (FADA) within the Department of Architecture at the University of Johannesburg. He serves as the second year coordinator in the Diploma programme.
He is currently pursuing a PhD in Heritage Studies which critically examines African divinity spaces and their contribution to a decolonial architectural scholarship. He holds a Professional master’s degree in architecture from the University of Pretoria (UP) (cum laude) 2015 and Master of Philosophy in Conservation in the Built Environment from the University of Cape Town in 2022.
Mahoati Arthur has interest in various forms of heritage and cultural productions, as well as how societies navigate their sense of identity within continually evolving urban environments. Moreover, he has keen interest with the diverse aspects of the architectural domain and the ways people make sense of the phenomenology of the senses within the built environment.
