About Duduzile Gloria Modiba

Biography:

Duduzile Gloria Modiba is a final year PhD student and Assistant Lecturer at the University of Johannesburg. She is a qualified and professionally registered coal geologist with underground and open-cast mining experience. She worked as an Associate Lecturer at Wits University in the School of Mining, while completing her MSc in Mining Engineering with a specific focus on Mineral Resource Management and Compliance and Reporting in the Mineral Industry. Her PhD research project aims to assess the concentration of REY+Sc’s in a variety of South African coals with the consideration of the viability of commercial extraction.

Research Interests:

Economic Geology, Coal Petrology, Trace and Rare Earth Elements, Mineral Economics and Mining  

Teaching:

Principles of Geology for 2nd years in Engineering Metallurgy

Registered Professional Scientist with SACNASP
