About Mr Tshwenyana Vincent Molapo

Vincent Molapo obtained his Mechanical Engineering Diploma in July 2006 at Tshwane University of Technology, and trained at I.N.D.L.E.L.A (Institution for the National Development of Leanerships, Employment skills and Labour Assessment) after which he was certified as a qualified Mechanical Technician.

Immediately after obtaining his diploma he joined August Lapple in partnership with TUT working as a Junior Tool Engineer. Here he designed jigs and fixtures, refurbished of injection moulding tools, manufactured four stages press tools (Blank Die, Form Die, Cam Die and Drill Jig) and trained to operate high-tech manufacturing machines: 5-axis CNC milling machines and spark eroding machines.

In April 2007 Molapo joined Readymade (now called Terrestrial), where he worked as a Mechanical Designer. He was involved in the designing of the Arivi Stove, a safe non-pressure paraffin stove to meet the SABS standard and SANS: 1906.2006 for non-pressure paraffin stoves.

In December 2008 he joined the Sustainable energy Technology and Research (SeTAR Centre), at the University of Johannesburg in the Department of Geography, Environmental Management and Energy Studies. Here Molapo tested different types of stoves for emissions, performance and particulate matters. He was responsible for analysis of the results and report writing for the clients.

In July 2012 Molapo started working in the Department of Industrial Design (UJ), as their workshop manager. This includes the management of the industrial design workshop, maintenance & servicing all the machines and facilitating training on how to safely use the machines for the industrial design students. He is also trained as Health and Safety officer, sitting on the faculties Health and Safety Committee whilst taking care of all the health and safety issues in the Department of Industrial Design.
