About Dr Lawrence Seseni
Lawrance Seseni holds a PhD in Operations Management and works as an Entrepreneurship Lecturer at the University of Johannesburg. In this role, he teaches undergraduate courses, supervises honours and master’s students, and coordinates diploma programmes in the Department of Business Management. He has published several articles in Scopus-indexed international conference proceedings as a researcher. His research interests include entrepreneurship education, student entrepreneurship, technology adoption for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and innovation. Recently, he has gained experience as a session chair at international conferences, reviewed conference and journal papers, served as a track chair, and presented as a distinguished speaker at various conferences. Lawrance founded the UJ Business Clinic to advise struggling businesses in and around Johannesburg.
Additionally, he is an Enactus UJ Primary Faculty Advisor. Enactus’ mandate is to solve societal problems using an entrepreneurial approach. Under his leadership, students have established several social enterprises. Some have already received funding from Harmony, MTN ICT Challenge, and Scheider and won several competitions, such as the BRICS Innovation Challenge. As a member of Golden Key, Lawrance’s PhD research focused on adopting and implementing big data by SMEs in emerging markets.
