About Mr Gert Heyns
Mr. Heyns is a lecturer and the BCom Transport Economics Programme Manager. He is based on the Kingsway Campus where he teaches Transport Economics and Logistics Management courses. His academic specialities include, transport economics, public transport, strategic logistics management, supply chain strategy analysis, distribution channel evaluation as well as outsourcing analysis.
Prior to his current position, he worked for leading logistics service providers, where he was responsible for consulting work, which included supply chain assessments and design, both locally and internationally. He is also a researcher of the Institute of Transport and Logistics Studies (Africa), the research unit of the Department of Transport and Supply Chain Management at the University of Johannesburg. His research activities focus on a broad range of research themes, including public transport, supply chain skills requirements and supply chain optimisation.
