About Dr Mampoi Mabena

Dr Mampoi Irene Mabena is a linguist, researcher, and lecturer with a PhD in linguistics and languages. She is currently a lecturer and a course coordinator for English 1C&D. Her research interests include societal use of indirect language, language and power, and language use in multilingual settings. Her most recent article publication is ‘Sesotho figurative language: Ineffective conversational strategy in commissions of enquiry’, in Journal of Southern African Linguistics and Applied Language Studies, 2022.
