About Dr Joachim Vermooten

Dr Joachim Vermooten CA(SA) CMILT is a research associate at the Department of Transport and Supply Chain Management and former airline executive and CEO in the insurance and manufacturing sectors, He specialises in air transport, aviation and energy matters as well as competition economics and regulatory economics. He consults airlines, airports, competition authorities, governments and apart from research, regularly provides press comments, appears on television, at conferences and on radio.  He holds the degrees DCom and MCom Cum Laude in transport economics. He is also a qualified chartered accountant (CA(SA)) and auditor (RA) with the underlying degrees of BCom and BCom Hons and CTA in accounting and finance. He also completed the HarvardX course on Energy within Environmental Constraints and the UNISA Advanced Short Course in Business Rescue Practice as well as several aviation courses including the Boeing Executive and Airline Financing Courses, the Airbus Air Transport Seminar, as well as the GIBS Advanced Business Valuations and the UNISA Integrated Planning and Control courses.
