Bachelor of Commerce Honours in Sport Management (H9S05Q)

This program is based on course work and is only offered full-time over the course of one year. A potential student should be in possession of a BCom (Sport Management) or any related qualification with a program specific minimum level of competency on the NQF Level 7 generating 360 credits (with an overall minimum average of 60% in the third year). Applications for admission are considered by a Departmental selection committee and a limited number is admitted every year. The limited number of students admitted is based on the Department’s capacity to adequately expose the students to Work Integrated Learning (WIL) and student to supervisor ratios.

Honours in Sport Science

Bachelor of Arts Honours in Sport Science (H9S03Q)

This program is based on course work and is only offered full-time over the course of one year. A potential student should be in possession of a BCom (Sport Management) or sport related BA (Sport Science or Human Movement Studies) degree generating a minimum of 360 credits (with an overall minimum average of 60% in the third year). Application for admissions are considered by a Departmental selection committee. The limited number of students admitted is based on the Department’s capacity.

Biokinetics

Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in Biokinetics (M9S03Q)

The programme is based on an approved research dissertation (no course work) and is offered either as a full-time or a part-time programme. Full-time students have 2 years in which to complete the programme, while part-time students have 3 years. Access will be provided to a student who is in possession of a 4-year Biokinetics degree at NQF level 8, with an average pass mark of at least 65%, or to a student with an Honours qualification in Biokinetics, with an average pass mark of at least 65%.

Doctor Of Philosophy (PhD) in Health Sciences: Biokinetics (P9H12Q)

The programme is based on an approved research dissertation (no course work) and is offered either as a full-time or a part-time programme. Full-time students have 4 years in which to complete the programme, while part-time students have 5 years. Access will be provided to a student who is in possession of a masters’ qualification in Biokinetics, with an average pass mark of at least 65%, at NQF Level 9, generating a minimum of 180 credits.

Sport Science

Master of Commerce / Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in Sport Management (M9S02Q / M9S04Q)

The programme is based on an approved research dissertation (no course work) and is offered either as a full-time or a part-time programme. Full-time students have 2 years in which to complete the programme, while part-time students have 3 years. Access will be provided to the student who is in possession of an Honours qualification in Sport Management (with an average pass mark of at least 65%). In the case of an interdisciplinary of interdisciplinary master’s programmes (MPhil), additional admission requirements may be set by the two or more relevant interdisciplinary fields/departments/faculties,and contained in the relevant Faculty Rules and Regulations.
