Undergraduate Programmes

Purpose:

The purpose of the diploma is to equip students with appropriate knowledge, technical and personal skills and attitudes to work effectively, efficiently and sustainably at operational and supervisory levels within the Food and Beverage Industry. Their basic managerial and high-level operational competencies in the food and beverage operation will provide the foundation to progress into managerial positions.

Admission Requirements:

The prospective student must be able to express themselves clearly and correctly both verbally and in written English.
Evidence of some exposure to the food and beverage industry would be considered as an advantage but not essential. This could be in the form of the school subjects of hotel keeping or consumer studies or part- or full-time work experience in the industry proved in testimony from industry practitioner.

Purpose:

The purpose of this qualification is to equip students to be competent in a variety of technical, managerial, personal and operational skills in the running of a tourism enterprise. The successful student will have developed a sound foundation for advancement into entry level and leadership positions, and to exploit entrepreneurial opportunities.

Prepares the graduate with operational and managerial aspects to work in a variety of different tourism related sectors.

Purpose:

The purpose of the programme is to provide students with an academic learning opportunity to enter the hospitality industry at a middle management level, able to utilise and apply critical thinking skills and problem solving techniques. The student should be able to demonstrate and understand how to plan, organise, lead and control initiatives in hospitality management and hospitality operations; skills in revenue management thinking; apply marketing and human resource management principles; understand supply chain and logistics, and differentiate and apply different research methodologies within tourism and hospitality settings.

Admission Requirements: The minimum admission requirements for the Advanced Diploma (Hospitality Management) are a Diploma in Food and Beverage Operations or National Diploma in Hospitality Management, both at NQF Level 6. Applicants with any other Hospitality Management or Food and Beverage Operations related Diploma with a minimum (at of NQF Level 6) will also be considered. A minimum of 60% for the combined third-year modules, for only NQF level 6 qualification, is required.
