Selina Linda Mudavanhu is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Department of Communication Studies at the University of Johannesburg (UJ). She holds a PhD in Media Studies from the University of Cape Town (UCT). Selina also holds a Masters degree in Communication and Media Studies, a Postgraduate Diploma in Media and Communication Studies and Bachelors degree in English and Portuguese from the University of Zimbabwe.
Prior to joining UJ, she was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Centre for Information Technology and National Development in Africa (CITANDA), Information Systems Department (UCT). Selina has also worked as a Researcher and Web Content Developer at the African Gender Institute (UCT). Other positions that Selina has held include Media and Gender Projects Officer, Women's Media Watch Unit Co-ordinator and Producer of Current Affairs programmes. Selina has tutored and lectured undergraduate and postgraduate students. She has also supervised graduate students at UCT. Selina's research interests include media and the politics of framing and representation, new media and feminist activisms, ICTs and development, media audiences and processes of reception.
