Dimpho Takane Maponya is an assistant lecturer at the University of Johannesburg's (UJ) Philosophy Department. She joined the Philosophy Department at UJ in 2015 as a tutor and in 2017 she was appointed senior tutor. Her research interests lie broadly in African philosophy, feminism, philosophy of race and ethics. She has delivered several lectures on feminism and the philosophy of race. Dimpho has presented her research, which covers themes on gender, feminism and decolonization, at various conferences and symposia. She has received a few postgraduate awards and is also a recipient of the Global Excellence Stature (GES) scholarship. In 2017, she was awarded a South African Women in Science Masters' fellowship by the Department of Science and Technology.
