The Corporate Governance (CG) Division functions within the Registrar’s Portfolio in the broader University context. The Division operates in accordance with the legislative framework of the Republic of South Africa and specifically, the Higher Education Act 101 of 1997 (as amended). The core functions are driven in alignment with the Institutional Statute of the University of Johannesburg as well as relevant institutional policies. The University of Johannesburg exercises good governance in respect of all of its activities.

Governance within the Registrars Portfolio includes:

  • Nomination and Elections for Statutory Committees
  • Review of University Academic Regulations
  • Management of the Policy Environment
  • Management of Access to Information
  • Facilitation of the B-BBEE verification process

The Corporate Governance Division within UJ also provides services related to:

  • Contract Management
  • Records Management
  • Qualification Verification (including Academic Records/ Transcript Supplements, third party verification)
