The Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer of PepsiCo Southern Africa, Mr Martin Neethling, was a guest of the University’s Department of Marketing Management and the Marketing Association of South Africa during an online lecture on April 03.

The event, titled “Understanding the South African Retail Landscape: Evolving Consumer Behaviours and Emerging Shopping Trends,” attracted students, lecturers, and industry professionals.

Mr. Neethling explored significant shifts in the retail sector, particularly the rise of informal trade driven by the need for greater accessibility and lower transport costs in response to ongoing inflation in the Fast-moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) sector. This insightful session highlighted adaptive strategies for businesses facing evolving consumer demands.
