Mechanical Engineers play a significant role in product design, manufacture, maintenance, research, control, development, management and marketing of mechanical engineering services. Mechanical Engineering is concerned with a large variety of mechanical equipment varying from small items to large constructions such as aircraft, railways, spacecraft, ships, motorcars and major transport equipment. In South Africa, Mechanical Engineers make a significant contribution in heavy industries, transport services, manufacturing, mining, consulting, research and the commodities industry.
