About Ms. Amanda Breytenbach

​​Amanda Breytenbach describes herself as a ‘passionate green citizen’, who believes in responsible and sustainable environment. Having performed managerial functions in the Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture (FADA), she is well positioned to ensure this ideal is woven into the curriculum. Breytenbach was trained as an architect but through her personal interest in higher education she took up her a full-time lecturing position within the Department of Interior Design in 1996. Although interior design was a new terrain the transition was fairly easy mainly because it has some similarities with architecture. Apart from dealing with Departmental and Faculty administrative matter she also supervises Master’s degree students and delivers research output. Breytenbach believes in the continuous search for cutting-edge and innovative interior designs but she contends these should be underpinned by a heightened sense of responsibility to promote the principles of a green and sustainable environment.
