Purpose
The purpose of the qualification and programme is to advance the competencies of the student aiming to or already working in a variety of organisations that use and rely on digitalisation and information systems to accomplish business goals. The qualification equips the student with hands on technical, predictive and analytical skills as well as research and decision-making skills anchored on organisational principles and the technology of systems. Graduates of this qualification should be able to meet the continuing and changing business and technology needs, by planning for and implementing information systems at workplaces, dealing with people, business procedures towards meaningful participation in the management of information systems
Career Opportunities
The degree is aimed an Information Technology specialist that want to take their career to the next level. Typical roles this degree prepare candidates for are: Project Manager, Programme Manager, Chief Information Officer, Product Manager, Team Lead, Service Delivery Lead, etc.
Admission Requirements
Candidates in possession of an acceptable qualification (Information Systems, IT Management, Informatics) on NQF level 8 with appropriate subject knowledge are considered. A minimum average of 65% of the entire BComHons programme will allow a potential student to apply for the master’s programme. In the case where there are more applicants than spaces, selection will be based on academic performance. In the case of an acceptable postgraduate diploma, the minimum average is 70%. Candidates should have passed a research methodology module (NQF level 8) with a minimum mark of 65%.
Selection Process
Applications are evaluated and ranked based on the programme’s rules of access. In some cases, applicants may also be invited to attend an interview as part of the selection process.
