About the Centre

The Qatar–South Africa Centre for Peace and Intercultural Understanding (CPIU) aspires to be a leading global centre for peace and intercultural dialogue and understanding. Anchored in the rich experiences of Qatar and South Africa and informed by broader perspectives from emerging powers and the Global South, the Centre engages in research, education, training, and dialogue that addresses the root causes of conflict and crisis, and pathways for achieving sustainable, just, and inclusive peace. The Centre fosters intercultural understanding as a foundation for solidarity, coexistence, and reimagined approaches to peace and security. Through collaboration with governments, multilateral actors, scholars, practitioners and communities, the Centre develops and implements initiatives that reflect and shape the evolving role of emerging powers in a multipolar world.
