Gender Budgeting and Development: Short Learning Programme for Equality and Empowerment
Gender budgeting is a powerful tool for promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment in public finance and policy. This short learning programme is designed for government officials, policymakers, professionals, and students who want to make a difference in public finance, policy analysis, and gender equality. By including gender perspectives in the budget process, you will learn how to analyse and restructure revenues and expenditures to prevent inequalities and build fairer societies.
During this three-month course, you will explore the basics of gender budgeting and analysis. You will learn how to collect and analyse gender data, use practical tools and techniques for gender budgeting, and study real-world examples and best practices. The programme also covers how to advocate for gender-sensitive policies and engage key stakeholders in the budget process. By understanding these methods, you will gain the skills to promote equitable resource distribution in your organisation or community.
Gender budgeting is more than just numbers – it is about making sure that budgets work for everyone. You will discover how to use gender-aware policy appraisals, beneficiary assessments, and expenditure analysis to reveal and address gender gaps. These skills are essential for anyone working in government, NGOs, or research who wants to support sustainable and inclusive development.
To enrol, you need a matric certificate or equivalent. The programme runs for three months and is open to anyone interested in advancing gender equality through public finance.
