​The UJ Three-Minute Thesis (3MT) Competition - 2020



Ms Suzette Leal recently won the UJ 3 Minute Thesis (3MT) competition with her presentation titled ‘The role and impact of Social Media on white informal settlements in Gauteng’.


Suzette is now representing the University of Johannesburg in the Universitas 21 (U21)  3MT competition. As always, there is the People's Choice prize - the presentation with the most public votes will take away US$1000.

Three-minute thesis (3MT) is an international research communication competition created at the University of Queensland, Australia in 2008. PhD candidates have THREE MINUTES and ONE STATIC POWERPOINT SLIDE to explain their research to a mixed audience.

The winning entry will represent UJ at the national Three Minute Thesis competition and will be entered into the U21 competition.
