UJ’s stand out long jumper

Date: Sep 11, 2013 | News

UJ’s long jumper stood out for the South African contingent competing at the Diamond League event in Zurich, Switzerland.

UJ student, Zarck Visser, who was eliminated in the qualifying round at the IAAF World Championships in Moscow two weeks ago, produced a surprise with a personal best leap of 8.32m and won the League. Visser took the early lead and went beyond eight metres with his first three attempts, and while he did not produce a legal jump in the second half of the competition, he had done enough to comfortably beat former Olympic silver medallist Khotso Mokoena (8.09m).
