UJ Visual Art M Tech Degree exhibitions this February

The Department of Visual Art at the University of Johannesburg’s (UJ) Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture (FADA) will host a series of events this February, two of which are partial M Tech Degree fulfillments – including “An exhibition of Interactive Sculptures: Musical Machines”; “An exhibition of sculptures made of musical instruments” by Senior lecturer, Froud Gordon; and “An exhibition of ‘in-between’ glassworks”.

All events are free and open to the public.

An exhibition of Interactive Sculptures: Musical Machines (1-13 February 2016)

Venue: Atrium (FADA) building, UJ Bunting Road Campus, Auckland Park.​

An exhibition by UJ Masters Researcher Jean Paul Lemmer of interactive, mechanical sculptures entitled Musical Machines will be on show from the 1st – 13th of February 2016. All are welcome.

Venue: Musicworx, 157 Jan smuts Ave, Parkwood (Next to Lizamore and Associates).

UJ Visual Art Senior lecturer Gordon Froud’s “Mute” show of sculptures made of musical instruments will open at from Thursday, 4 February 2016. Open Mic Nite will allow you to jam with or just enjoy music till late in the evening.

​​​An exhibition of ‘in-between’ glassworks curated (4-18 February 2016)

Venue: Art It Is, No 11 Chester Rd Parkwood, cr Winslow Rd.

UJ Masters student Thabang Monoa has curated a show of Contemporary Glass practice in South Africa. This ‘must see!’ exhibition features the best of Gauteng based Glass art practitioners and will be opened by a world expert and foremost collector of Glass in SA, Dr Ingram Anderson at 6:30pm. This show has been carefully curated in a Glass and Steel gallery down the road from the Parkwood Artstrip.
