UJ takes top honours at Tertiary Education Council Exhibition Awards

The Division of Internationalisation at the University of Johannesburg (UJ) walked away with laurels at this year’s Botswana Tertiary Education Fair & Conference, held in Botswana from 21 March to 24 March 2013.
UJ’s exhibition not only showcased its offerings to potential international students but also impressed the judges in the category of International Exhibitors. This year’s theme for the exhibition was The Tertiary Education: Shaping your Future.
UJ took top honours for its integrated marketing and recruitment efforts which targeted two separate markets: undergraduate and postgraduate prospects, beating other international universities and colleges who competed in the same category.
Judges criteria included customer service, general neatness and presentation at the stall, overall branding, university offerings and attitude towards the customers as well as merchandising.
Executive Director: Internationalisation, Dr Pinkie Mekgwe said that this was the second time that UJ participated in the Botswana Tertiary Education Fair, being awarded second place at last year’s fair.
“That we have, this time, brought back first prize speaks volumes about the team’s dedication to improving our service to our core clients – the students – and profile amongst our international peers. Of course, the real prize lies in the conversion of recognition into attracting first class students to UJ”, Dr Mekgwe said.
