Date: Feb 13, 2015 | News

In the spirit of the new Varsity Cup Rugby season, the annual Big Brag event took place at the University of Johannesburg (UJ) Auckland Park Kingsway campus (APK) on Friday, 13 February 2015. Hundreds of students joined in the celebrations for UJ’s rugby Boytjies and UJ Miss Varsity Cup finalists.

The appearances of the Boytjies and the UJ Miss Varsity Cup ladies sent the crowd of students into a frenzy and the atmosphere was profound – motivating the team for their next game to be played on Monday, 16 February 2015 against FNB Shimlas.
Zene van Blerk, UJ Miss Varsity Cup for 2014 and this year’s head judge of the competition, also joined the proceedings and paraded with this year’s finalists. The finalists take immense pride in this entertaining and colourful competition, illustrating that beauty can be combined with the rockiness of rugby; as a result adding flavour to an amazing event exuding interest for sports and beauty fanatics.
Zene had this to say about the 2015 Miss Varsity Cup: “We are looking for the perfect combination of beauty and brains, but the most important thing is to find someone who personifies humility. I wish all the best to this year’s contestants from all the universities and as Miss VC 2014 title holder, I look forward to handing over my crown to my successor. With a sponsor like LEGiT Fashion, it is a journey that any girl would like to travel!” UJ wishes its Boytjies and Miss Varsity Cup finalists all the best for their upcoming game and for the rest of the season.
