In a special ceremony held yesterday at the UJ Soweto Campus, the Faculty of Law granted just over 500 graduates their hard-earned qualifications for the LLB, BA and BCom Law including the Diploma in Paralegal Studies qualifications. The hall was filled with graduates, parents and grand-parents who came to share in the joys and honour of their loved ones being called up by the Dean to receive their well-deserved qualifications. The ceremony is marked as one of the first “in-contact” graduations since the pandemic and its restrictions which affected much of teaching and learning, but with technology, there were ways around this as efforts were introduced and adopted that made the experience easy and enjoyable hence so many graduates today! Soweto being no stranger to celebrating it’s icons got everyone off their seats and rejoiced (with certificates in hand), to Branda Fassie’s Vulindlela! The atmosphere was what it should be as smiles, laughter and tears were abound. In the words on Prof Wesahl Domingo, the Dean of the Faculty of Law, “May this day be a marker of change” Congratulations to all the graduates!
