UJ, Paragon Architects partnership looks to unearth emerging African design talent

The Graduate School of Architecture (GSA) at the University of Johannesburg is delighted to announce a brand new partnership with Paragon Architects, one of the country’s leading architecture firms.

The Group’s generous sponsorship of the GSA’s Summer Show, which takes place on Thursday, 30 November 2017, in the GSA’s downtown ‘home’, located inside the Museum of African Design (MOAD), Maboneng, will see a high-profile speaker open the show, as well as showcasing the work of the GSA’s 90 postgraduate students.

Said Prof Lesley Lokko, Head of School at GSA, ‘Paragon’s long-standing relationship with the GSA has sustained many an initiative over the past three years. Many of our most talented students either work at Paragon during their holiday breaks, or are snapped up immediately upon graduation. We are delighted to formalise our partnership with them and to nurturing home-grown, African architectural excellence through dialogue, exhibition and shared conversations.’

The custom-made exhibition and event will attract students, parents, friends and visitors from the Gauteng region and aims to be a key focal point for emerging African architectural and design talent.

The partnership, structured over three years, will assist the school in making the Summer Show a ‘go-to’ event for students, prospective students, practitioners and prospective employers alike.
