UJ now open for 2013 study applications

Date: Apr 12, 2012 | News

The University of Johannesburg (UJ) is now accepting applications from prospective learners who would like to pursue their studies at the University in 2013.

Prospective learners can apply to the University within the application period for admission, pertaining to that study programme with their final Grade 11 marks by either completing a paper application form or submitting the application form online. The application deadlines vary for different UJ’s programmes. Most applications close on the last Friday of October 2012. The exceptions include Health Sciences programmes, BEd (Educational Psychology) and MEd (Educational Psychology), which close on the last Friday of July 2012. Law programmes, International students and accommodation applications close on the last Friday of August 2012 and Economic and Financial Sciences programmes close on the last Friday of September 2012.

All prospective learners – learners who have not been registered with UJ for formal study before – must apply to study at the University. The prospective learners will receive the relevant status depending on whether they are admitted, conditionally admitted or turned down.

The application process is only a pre-registration process that enables the University to evaluate whether or not the prospective learner meets the requirements for study at UJ. If they do not apply to study, this evaluation process cannot take place and they will not be able to register at UJ for the 2013 academic year. Note that the minimum admission point score (APS) does not guarantee a place at UJ.
The University will inform the prospective students in writing whether or not their application for admission was approved or turned down. There is also a facility on the UJ website to check the status of applications. Successful applicants will be informed when to register in January 2013.
More information on the application process and programmes entry requirements can be obtained on UJ’s webpage www.uj.ac.za. Alternatively the UJ’s Call Centre can be contacted on 0861 00 00 85 or 011 559 4555. More information on residence applications and financial aid closing dates can also be obtained on the website. All applicants must complete the National Benchmark Testing (NBT). For information regarding NBT please visit http://nbt.ac.za.
