UJ Fashion Design alumna, Kuena Moshoeshoe crowned first ‘The Intern’ winner

Ms Kuena Moshoeshoe, a Fashion Design alumna from the Faculty of Arts, Design and Architecture (FADA) within the Department of Fashion Design at the University of Johannesburg (UJ) took the crown on a new reality show ‘The Intern’ by internationally acclaimed designer, David Tlale.

Aimed at nurturing and transferring skills to post-graduate fashion design students, the reality show, The Intern by David Tlale, saw 12 hopeful fashion designers battling it out for the title of Assistant Designer for the house of David Tlale. They were judged based on creativity, originality, understanding of the brief as well as excellence in execution.

On Wednesday, 04 October 2017, after 12 gruelling episodes, Ms Moshoeshoe, who hails from Lesotho and who has recently graduated from UJ, was crowned the overall winner at the season’s live finale. Contestants presented an exit collection consisting of seven designs that appeals to a global market in terms of trends but are distinctively a South Africa original.
