UJ clarifies the matter of 2016 fee adjustment

Date: Oct 19, 2015 | News

Statement on behalf of Prof Ihron Rensburg, Vice-Chancellor and Principal, UJ

The University of Johannesburg (UJ) has noted, with concern, assertions reported in the media on the University’s fee adjustment for 2016.
Unfortunately these reports are characterised by poorly substantiated claims, published without confirming with the University’s authorities whether the information reflected in the articles are indeed correct. In making these claims it would appear that some media houses may have made of themselves strangers to ethical principles and protocols by reporting inaccurately.

To clarify, the University is currently in consultation with regards to the fees adjustment for 2016. Based upon the consultations between the UJ’s Executive Management and the Student Representative Council (SRC), the Council will be presented in November with the respective advice of the Executive Management and the SRC.
