UJ clarifies matter regarding missing person

Date: Oct 15, 2013 | News

The University of Johannesburg (UJ) can confirm that the 20-year-old female, who has been reported missing by some selected media, enrolled at the University in January 2013. She was no longer registered at UJ from July onwards.

Since she was not registered at the University at the time of the alleged disappearance, and it occurred off UJ’s campus, the matter was not brought to the attention of the University.
However, upon receiving information linking her name to UJ, the University immediately verified its records and confirmed her status as mentioned above. UJ engaged with her parent, who in turn informed the University that when they realised she wasn’t returning home, they opened a missing person report with the police. The matter is now being investigated by the SAPS.
UJ is concerned about her safety and is offering her family its support in this time.
