Excitement was in the air as the 100 student leaders filled the School of Tourism and Hospitality (STH) auditorium on Bunting Road Campus on Tuesday, 23 April with anticipation to listen to the inspiring words of one of their favourite motivational speakers.

The poignant notes of a saxophone, played by a member of the Alumni band, welcomed the leaders in the SRC, Residence leaders, Society leaders and leaders in the UJ student Volunteer Programme, the Student Council, House Committees, UJ volunteer programme and top achievers.

“Leadership is not about you, it is about the people you lead. Your duty as leader is not to change people, but to influence them, to inspire them.” This was the message from Dr David Molapo, dedicated community worker and developer of human capital at the third event of UJ’s Alumni Leadership 2013 series in collaboration with Dr Molapo’s ICAN Foundation
