Lesley Lokko, an associate professor in the Department of Architecture at the University of Johannesburg (UJ) and renowned author, will reflect on relationships when she talks about her latest novel at UJ.

As part of UJ Reads, a popular reading project aimed at motivating students and staff to read for fun and relaxation, Prof Lokko’s ninth novel, In Love and War, tells a story of two women brought together in extraordinary circumstances in pursuit of ground-breaking journalism stories in war danger zones.
The book discussion will unearth some of the grueling revelations the author puts before her readers.
Lokko was born to a Ghanaian surgeon and a Scottish artist and grew up in Ghana. She lived in the United Kingdom, the USA and South Africa. She trained as an architect, but is also the author of nine best-selling novels. She is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Architecture at UJ. Prof Lokko’s background, her interest in travel and cities has inspired her to continue writing, despite a formidable teaching load!
Hosted by the University’s Library, the book discussions are scheduled to take place from 12:15 to 13:30 at the Auckland Park Bunting Road and Soweto Campuses on Thursday, 12 and Friday, 13 February 2015, respectively.
