UJ 7’s rugby team ready to take on Varsity 7’s tournament

Date: Oct 30, 2013 | News

A number of UJ players represented the Lions A and B teams during the North Region Tournament hosted by the Police Rugby Club. The Lions A team won the tournament comfortably by beating all their rivals on their way to the top.

The Lions-A proved to be the most consistent team by winning three of the four tournaments held.
This tournament served as another valuable preparation tool for the UJ 7’s rugby team that will compete in the Varsity 7’s competition from 29 November. Morné Laubscher and Leon Potgieter (Lions A Team) were included in the North Region team for 2013. The rest of the Lions A team will be playing in the National Club 7’s tournament taking place in Kimberley on 1 and 2 November 2013. The other UJ players will be competing in a tournament in Klerksdorp as final preparation for the Varsity 7’s competition. Congratulations to all UJ players, staff and coaches with another champion’s title – we wish all of them the best in their preparation for the important Varsity 7’s tournament.

Results of the Lions-A team in the North Region were as follows:

Won 29 – 0 Limpopo

Won 31 – 14 Lions B
